Polish medical centre Enel-Med has disclosed a cyberattack that resulted in unauthorized access to about 3% of its patient database. The company says the attack was stopped and affected patients will be contacted individually.
Polish medical centre Enel-Med has announced it fell victim to a cyberattack that led to unauthorized access to some patient data. The news was first reported by RMF24, citing an official statement from the centre, as relayed by "European Pravda."
According to the company, the incident occurred on September 24 and affected nearly 3% of its entire patient database. Enel-Med stated that the breach was detected quickly and the attack was successfully halted. Immediately after discovering the incident, the centre said it implemented a comprehensive set of preventive measures and introduced additional security safeguards.
The medical centre pledged to contact individually all patients whose data had been compromised. It said it would make every effort to minimize the inconvenience caused by the situation, adding that the security and protection of patient data remains its top priority.
Other recent cyberattacks in Europe
The report also noted that police in Dyfed-Powys, Wales, recently reported a cyberattack that disrupted the operation of some systems and may have led to unauthorized access to employee information. Separately, a small French municipality in Burgundy reported facing hundreds of thousands of cyberattacks within a single week, with most requests appearing to originate from Russia.
