The June heatwave in Europe has shattered multiple long-standing records. Austria experienced its longest continuous June heatwave on record, with temperatures in some regions staying above 30 degrees Celsius for two consecutive weeks, as reported by the program "Aktuaalne kaamera".
June temperature records were also broken in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Absolute heat records were set in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and France.
France also recorded its highest nighttime temperatures ever. In Spain, preliminary data suggests a record number of deaths due to the heat.
A few days ago, Lithuania recorded its hottest June day in history, with the temperature reaching 36.6 degrees Celsius.
