Inquest hears how three-year-old boy left playground before Suffolk pond tragedy
An inquest opened in Ipswich has heard that three-year-old Noah Woods left a playground through a gap in the fence before he was later found dead in a pond. His body was found by police divers the day after a large search in Brantham.
An inquest opened in Ipswich has revealed new details about how three-year-old Noah Woods came to die in a pond in Suffolk following an extensive search operation.
The toddler went missing in the village of Brantham on 15 September, prompting a major search effort. His body was found the following day by police divers in nearby water.
Sequence of events
Suffolk Coroner's Court heard from police that Noah had left a playground through a gap in the fence. He then entered a nearby memorial garden through an open gate, before running down a path on a new housing estate towards the nearby Decoy Pond.
Assistant coroner Jyoti Gill described the case as a "very sad and tragic death" as she opened and adjourned the inquest.
The inquest is expected to continue, with further details anticipated on how the boy was able to leave the playground unnoticed and reach the water.
