Estonian duo wins double sculls gold at U-19 World Rowing Championships

The World Rowing Under-19 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, have wrapped up with an Estonian triumph, as Endrik Hansen and Riko Raimond Kubja topped the men's double sculls final.

Final standings

The Estonian pair crossed the finish line in 6:18.60, edging out Great Britain, who finished in 6:19.23. Third place went to a crew competing under neutral status without a national flag, clocking 6:19.57. They were trailed by boats from Turkey, Slovenia and New Zealand.

Road to the final

In the semifinal, the Estonians had placed third, behind crews from Slovenia and Great Britain. The Slovenian boat won that heat in 6:33.39, finishing just under two seconds ahead of the Estonian pair.

Other Estonian result

In the men's single sculls, Estonia's Karl Varik posted the fourth-fastest time in his heat at 7:01.22, narrowly missing qualification for the A final. He will now compete in the B final.
