Estonia's Tax and Customs Board (MTA) has reminded residents that October 1 is the deadline for paying the second installment of land tax and any additional personal income tax owed based on 2025 income tax returns.

Income tax

Based on 2025 income declarations, nearly 84,000 people must pay an additional total of about 97 million euros in personal income tax by October 1, 2026, according to the MTA press service.

Land tax

Around 85,000 private individuals and legal entities must pay the second installment of land tax, totaling 37 million euros. These funds will go entirely to local government budgets.

Land tax is paid in two installments when the amount owed within a single municipality exceeds 100 euros. The first installment was due on March 31, when at least half the amount, but no less than 100 euros, had to be paid. The remaining balance must be paid no later than October 1.

Checking amounts and getting help

The easiest way to check the amount of income or land tax owed is through the e-MTA online services portal. Private clients with questions can call 880 0811 or email eraklient@emta.ee, while business clients can call 880 0812 or email ariklient@emta.ee.

The department advises individuals who face difficulties paying their land or income tax on time to arrange a payment installment plan through e-MTA.
