Honda dismisses talk of 50-horsepower gain for upgraded power unit

Ahead of the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Honda held a filming day to test an updated power unit for Aston Martin. Media reports had suggested a significant power increase, reportedly as much as 50 horsepower, but a Honda representative pushed back on these claims.

Asked about the figure at a press conference, Honda's Orihara acknowledged that such a gain would be desirable but said it does not reflect reality. While he said he could not disclose specific power details, he stated plainly that the number being circulated is not accurate.

Chassis upgrades continue as well

Alongside engine development, Aston Martin has also been progressing with its car's construction. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, the team introduced a substantial upgrade package covering 16 components.

These developments follow a difficult start to the season, during which Aston Martin consistently ran near the back of the grid. In Hungary, however, the team showed more promising form, with Fernando Alonso reaching the second qualifying segment for the first time this season. Still, the single point Alonso scored at Monaco remains the team's only points finish of the season so far.
