In case of airspace threat, residents will also be informed about polling station operations
If an airspace threat is declared on election day, October 3, mobile alert messages in the affected area will also include information about the closure of polling stations. Once the threat is resolved, residents will receive a follow-up message about stations reopening.

If an airspace threat were declared today, October 3, on election day, in any part of Latvia, authorities plan to inform residents through the cellular alert system used for emergency notifications.
In such a case, the alert message sent to residents in the affected area would include additional information stating that polling stations located in that district are being closed for the duration of the threat.
Once the threat has been eliminated and the situation returns to normal, residents would receive a second message informing them that polling stations in the area have resumed operations.
The measure is intended to ensure public safety while also promptly informing people when voting can continue after a threat has passed.
