EU Official Confirms China Trained Russian Soldiers
A high-ranking European Union official confirmed on Friday that China has trained Russian soldiers, with a portion of them subsequently sent to fight in Ukraine. This confirmation aligns with earlier media reports citing European intelligence agencies.
The official stated that the training took place at several locations in China and involved hundreds of soldiers. According to the German newspaper Die Welt, which cited classified documents, the training focused primarily on the use of drones and electronic countermeasures. Many of the trained soldiers later ended up in Ukraine.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, China has officially maintained a neutral stance but has in practice provided support to Russia, including military training. The EU has previously imposed sanctions on several Chinese companies for supplying materials to the Russian military.
This confirmation heightens concerns about China's role in supporting Russia's war efforts. The international community continues to closely monitor China's actions and their impact on the conflict in Ukraine.
