Eleja to host concert-lecture and community singalong
On October 3, the Eleja exhibition hall will host a free concert-lecture and singalong event where visitors can both listen and sing along with choir performers.

On October 3, the exhibition hall in Eleja will host a concert-lecture and community singalong titled "Choir Singing and the Festival of Song." The event is organized by "Kopdare," an initiative of the "Lielupe" Rural Partnership association, and admission is free.
The concert-lecture begins at 3 p.m. and will cover polyphonic singing, choral traditions, and the history of the Song Festival movement, with particular focus on the Zemgale region and Eleja's historical role as a significant place for communal singing. The lecture will be led by musicians Kristiāna and Pēteris Vaickovskis.
Singing together
At 4:15 p.m., the second part of the event begins — a singalong where attendees will be able not only to listen but also to sing together with choir members. Lyrics and sheet music will be provided to participants. A group of singers from the University of Latvia's chamber choir "DeCoro" will also take part.
The event is part of a broader series called "Concert-Lecture with Community Singalong in Jelgava Municipality," which combines listening to music with educational storytelling and the chance for attendees to make music themselves.
The creative team behind the series includes musicologist and musician Laura Švītiņa, along with representatives of the "Musica Humana" association — musicologist, conductor, and musician Kristiāna Vaickovska, and musician and conductor Pēteris Vaickovskis.
The series is organized by the "Lielupe" Rural Partnership association and is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation's targeted program "Development Program for Latvia's Historical Lands," administered by the Zemgale Planning Region.
