Daugavpils orienteers become first-ever European champions in trail relay
Young athletes from the Daugavpils orienteering club "Stiga" won gold at the European Championship in trail orienteering relay, becoming the first-ever European champions in the discipline.

Athletes from the Daugavpils orienteering club "Stiga" have achieved a historic result, winning gold in the trail orienteering relay at the European Championship. The winning team consisted of brothers Maksims and Pāvels Rogožins together with their teammate Artjoms Ivanovs.
From doubt to celebration
The athletes described a rollercoaster of emotions during the competition — starting with uncertainty about the outcome, followed by growing hope, and finally uncontainable joy once the results were confirmed and the victory became official.
A first for the discipline
The title was won at the European Championship held in Poland. With this result, the Daugavpils trio not only became the strongest junior team in the competition but also the first-ever European champions in the trail orienteering relay — a title never before awarded in this discipline.
The team has since returned home to Daugavpils with the champion title, a result seen as a significant milestone for both the athletes and their club.
