Sausage in pastry at Riga Airport priced at €5.50 sparks social media debate
A picture of a sausage roll at Riga Airport priced at €5.50 has circulated on the social network Threads, with users joking about inflation. Data from Latvia's Central Statistical Bureau show consumer prices rose 3.2% year on year in September.

A food price at Riga Airport has been widely discussed this week on the social network Threads: one sausage in pastry there costs €5.50. A user posted a photo of the price and wrote that inflation had affected even this snack. The post prompted both surprise and a string of humorous comments.
One commenter joked by asking whether this was the price per kilogram. Another suggested the price would be reasonable only if the sausage came from a pig raised in a monastery courtyard and the dough from flour processed by monks. A traveller noted that prices can be higher elsewhere, saying she had recently seen a shrimp sandwich priced at €25 at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport.
The source notes that there is no information on how this sausage's price changed in previous months. It is therefore hard to judge how much of the €5.50 reflects inflation and how much reflects the airport's catering pricing policy.
