British TV tonight: a nature series, a returning Amsterdam crime drama and Homeric themes in Sicily

British broadcasters are offering a varied evening lineup tonight, spanning nature documentary, crime drama and music programming.

Nature and crime

An ITV1 nature documentary series turns its attention this evening to coastal habitats, showing how sudden extreme weather has devastated flamingo colonies and destroyed the anemone habitats that clownfish rely on. The programme is described as both visually striking and unsettling in what it reveals about human impact on the natural world.

Later on ITV1, the fourth series of an Amsterdam-set police drama continues, with actor Marc Warren playing a determined detective investigating a wave of crimes including gangland killings and a car bombing. On Channel 4, actor Richard E Grant continues his travel series tracing themes from Homer's epic, this time visiting Sicily to explore the myth of the Cyclops and performing in an ancient amphitheatre.
