Masked motorcycle robbers smash car window to rob TikTok influencer in Brazil
Two masked men on a motorcycle smashed a car window and stole a phone from a woman stuck in traffic in São Paulo, with money later disappearing from her bank account as well. The attack was captured on dashcam and shared online.
A violent robbery targeting a local TikTok influencer, Tabata Lenka, has been caught on camera in São Paulo, Brazil, after two masked men on a motorcycle approached her car during a traffic jam.
The woman's own dashcam recorded the attack. Footage shows the motorcycle pulling up alongside her stopped vehicle, after which one of the men jumps off, runs to the car and forces the side window open. He then snatches her phone from its holder before fleeing the scene together with his accomplice.
Money vanished from her account
Shortly after the theft, it emerged that cash had also been withdrawn from the victim's bank account, even though she says the thieves had no access to her password, facial recognition data or PIN code. How they managed to access her finances remains unclear.
The woman reported the incident to police and froze her bank accounts. She also posted the footage on social media in hopes that someone would recognize the attackers, admitting that watching the video again was difficult for her.
A daily reality in São Paulo
Such crimes are far from unusual in the city. Hundreds of thousands of mobile phones are stolen in São Paulo every year, and traffic-jam robberies of this kind have become a routine hazard for drivers there.
