Former Latvian Probation Service Employee Takes Agency to Court Over Alleged Bullying
A former State Probation Service employee who resigned in May 2024 after working there for nearly two years is now suing the agency, alleging emotional abuse and workplace mobbing.

A man who joined Latvia's State Probation Service in September 2022 spent nearly two years at the agency before deciding, in May 2024, to resign of his own accord.
His departure, however, was not the end of the story. Shortly after submitting his resignation, the former official chose to take legal action against his former employer. The lawsuit centers on allegations of emotional abuse and mobbing he reportedly experienced during his employment, along with complaints about bureaucratic practices within the State Probation Service.
Court proceedings underway
The case concerning the alleged workplace bullying and mistreatment is currently before the courts. Detailed specifics of the proceedings and the agency's response have not been widely disclosed publicly, but the fact that the former employee opted to pursue the matter through litigation points to a deeper rift between him and his former employer.
The State Probation Service is a public institution whose staff handle demanding and emotionally taxing responsibilities. Internal disputes of this kind, and lawsuits filed against state agencies, can draw broader attention to working conditions within the public sector.
