Latvia to see changeable, rain-prone weather in late August
Forecasters say cyclonic activity will bring changeable and often rainy weather to Latvia in the second half of August, though daytime temperatures will still reach around +20 degrees. Heavier, prolonged rain is possible by the weekend.

Cyclonic activity will dominate over Latvia in the coming weeks, bringing changeable and rain-prone weather, according to forecasters. Despite more frequent rain, daytime air temperatures across most of the country will still reach or exceed +20 degrees Celsius.
Start of the week
The first days of the week will bring the most precipitation. On Monday, rain is expected in many areas, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms possible in places. On Tuesday, the rain zone will be concentrated mainly in the Latgale region, where showers will last longer. Winds on both days will be light, mostly from the west, gradually shifting to the north. Daytime temperatures will stay around +20 degrees, while nighttime lows in many places will not fall below +10 to +15 degrees.
Midweek
Conditions will not change significantly midweek, as Latvia will remain under the influence of cyclones, keeping the likelihood of rain relatively high. However, precipitation will be distributed unevenly, with rain zones shifting location from day to day, and some areas may avoid rain clouds altogether. No significant strengthening of wind is expected.
Weekend outlook
Forecasters point to a high likelihood of intense, prolonged rain toward the end of the week, potentially starting on Friday night into Saturday and continuing during the day. This could be linked to an active cyclone that may cross Latvia from the south. Forecasters caution that the outlook could still change significantly depending on the cyclone's path.
