Appeal court upholds Igors Trubko's conviction for offering a bribe

The Riga Regional Court on Monday left unchanged the first-instance guilty verdict against Igors Trubko, the former chairman of the board of Riga Housing Manager (AS "Rīgas namu apsaimniekotājs"). The case concerns an offer of a 2.1 million euro bribe to Riga City Council faction leader Mārtiņš Kossovičs.

The Riga Regional Court ruled on Monday to leave unchanged the first-instance court's guilty verdict in the criminal case against Igors Trubko, who previously chaired the board of the Riga municipal company AS "Rīgas namu apsaimniekotājs". The regional court therefore kept the lower court's conviction in force.

Trubko was convicted of offering a bribe of 2.1 million euros. The offer was made to Mārtiņš Kossovičs, who at the time led the "Par/Progresīvie" faction in the Riga City Council.

The source does not state the sentence imposed, the court's reasoning, or whether the ruling can be appealed further, so this report does not cover those points.
