Referee from England's Super Cup set to officiate Latvian and Riga champions' European matches
Sam Barrott, who refereed Sunday's Community Shield match between Arsenal and Manchester City in Cardiff, will soon take charge of European fixtures involving Latvia's and Riga's champion clubs.

On Sunday, English referee Sam Barrott took charge of the Community Shield match in Cardiff, Wales, where Arsenal beat Manchester City 3:0. He showed two yellow cards to each side during the game.
This season Barrott has already officiated two other European club matches, issuing four yellow cards in each. In the Champions League second-round return leg, he refereed the match between Ireland's Shamrock Rovers and Armenia's Ararat-Armenia, which ended 2:1. In the Conference League third-round first leg, he took charge of the match between Netherlands' Twente and Slovakia's DAC, won by the home side 6:0.
Background and record
Barrott has been officiating in the English Premier League since 2024. Last season he issued only one red card, suggesting a relatively lenient approach to refereeing.
