Impressive England beat Scotland to close on T20 World Cup semis

England's women's cricket team moved to the brink of the T20 World Cup semi-finals with a convincing 38-run victory over Scotland at Headingley on Saturday.

Batting first, England posted 200-5 in their 20 overs, powered by Sophia Dunkley's return to form with 57 runs. Dunkley, recalled to the side, capitalized on three dropped catches by Scotland. Alice Capsey contributed 40, and captain Heather Knight made 25.

The standout performance came from Freya Kemp and Dani Gibson, who added an unbeaten 61 runs off just 21 balls. Kemp smashed 39 not out off 16 deliveries, while Gibson hammered 30 not out off 11, lifting England from a modest 141-5 after 17 overs to a commanding total.

Scotland, in reply, managed 162-7 – their highest score when batting second in T20 internationals. Despite a determined effort, they fell short.

England need one win from their remaining two group matches – against West Indies on Wednesday and New Zealand next Saturday – to secure a top-two finish and a semi-final spot. Scotland, with one win and two defeats, face New Zealand on Tuesday.
