Woman Arrested for Treason: Rented Hotel Room with View of Kyiv Sea, Streamed Video to Enemy
A 42-year-old woman from Odesa region has been remanded in custody without bail on charges of high treason under martial law. She allegedly filmed Ukrainian defense positions and set up a live stream from a hotel room to help Russia coordinate missile and drone attacks on Kyiv.

A court has ordered the arrest of a 42-year-old resident of Odesa region without the possibility of bail. She is charged with high treason committed under martial law, according to the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
According to the investigation, in December 2025 the suspect sought opportunities to assist the enemy and established contact with a representative of Russian special services via the Telegram messenger. She was tasked with collecting and transmitting information on the locations of Ukrainian defense forces, military objects, and critical infrastructure, as well as helping to coordinate missile and drone strikes.
In April 2026, the recruited woman sent photos via messenger showing the location, operation, and military equipment of a mobile air defense fire group in Chornomorsk, Odesa region. Subsequently, the Russian handler gave her a new assignment: to travel to Kyiv region to further coordinate enemy attacks on the capital and the region.
To do this, she was to stay in a pre-selected hotel room with windows overlooking the Dnipro reservoir, known as the "Kyiv Sea." The suspect remotely booked a room in a suburban hotel complex in Kyiv region for several days with the option to extend. She also purchased a smartphone and installed remote access software for Russian special services. She then traveled there from the Odesa bus station, maintaining constant contact with her handler.
Upon arrival, the woman placed the prepared smartphone on the windowsill of her room using a tripod, camouflaged it, and set up a continuous video stream of the reservoir. The surveillance lasted two weeks. During this time, representatives of the aggressor state used the obtained data to monitor the situation and adjust missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Kyiv region.
The SBU believes the suspect was involved in one of the largest Russian attacks on the capital of Ukraine, which occurred on May 24, 2026.
