The annual Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrations in Aglona have come to a close, drawing approximately 14,000 attendees from across Latvia and from abroad. The event is one of the largest gatherings of Catholic believers in the country.

This year's celebrations took place amid concerns over airspace security, though this did not deter pilgrims from making their way to Aglona. Worshippers joined in collective prayer, asking not only for the wellbeing of their loved ones but also for peace in Latvia and around the world.

The Aglona festival traditionally draws large numbers of pilgrims to the Aglona Basilica each year to honor the Virgin Mary. This year's gathering proceeded according to the usual tradition, despite heightened caution regarding security matters.
