Latvia's election count points to clear lead for Apvienotais saraksts, Greens and Farmers may miss parliament

As vote counting continues in Latvia's 15th Saeima election, the Apvienotais saraksts (United List) holds a clear lead, while the Union of Greens and Farmers appears likely to fall short of the 5% threshold. Counting is complete in Kurzeme, Latgale and Zemgale, while Riga and Vidzeme are still being processed.

With more than 90% of votes counted in Latvia's 15th Saeima election, data from the Central Election Commission shows the Apvienotais saraksts (United List, AS) clearly leading with 35.32% of the vote, which could translate into as many as 42 seats. The Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS), meanwhile, sits just below the 5% threshold with 4.5% and may fail to enter parliament.

Regional breakdown

Vote counting has finished at all polling stations in Kurzeme, Latgale and Zemgale, though tallying of preferential marks is still ongoing in some places. In Kurzeme, AS could take six of 11 seats, with National Alliance (NA), Latvia First (LPV), Sovereign Power/Union of New Latvians (SV/AJ), the Progressives and New Unity (JV) each picking up one seat.

In Latgale, LPV could win five of 12 seats, AS and SV/AJ three each, and NA one. In Zemgale, AS is projected to take six of 13 seats, LPV and NA two each, with the Progressives, JV and SV/AJ dividing the remainder.

In Vidzeme, votes have been counted at 271 of 273 polling stations, and AS could win 13 of 26 seats. Possible new MPs from the list include Raimonds Bergmanis, Edvards Smiltēns and Aiva Vīksna, though results remain tight and could still shift.

Riga, which allocates the largest number of seats — 38 — is furthest behind in counting, meaning the capital could see the biggest changes to the final outcome.

Other parties

LPV currently holds 13.12% of the vote, followed by SV/AJ with 11.73%, which could translate into 14 seats under the current distribution. NA has 8.99% and could secure 11 seats, the Progressives 7.6% and nine seats, while JV with 6.3% could get seven seats.
