The council of Estonia's Media Companies Association appointed two new members to the Press Council at its September meeting: Andrei Titov, managing editor of Radio 4, and Rannar Raba, editor-in-chief of Tartu Postimees. Both appointments take effect on October 1 and run for a two-year term.

At the same time, two members left the Press Council: ERR journalism ethics adviser Tarmu Tammerk and Pärnu Postimees editor-in-chief Siiri Erala. Both had reached the maximum allowed membership period of four years.

The terms of lawyer Evelin Jõepere and Harju County Court judge Meelis Eerik were also extended by two years.

From October 1, the Press Council is headed by Karl-Eduard Salumäe, head of the opinion section at Äripäev. Other council members include Lääne Elu editor-in-chief Aivar Õepa, Õhtuleht news head Elis Kusma, Postimees special projects editor Aarne Seppel, Tallinn University associate professor Indrek Treufeldt, and Deputy Chancellor of Justice and adviser Olari Koppel.

The Press Council is a journalism self-regulatory body that gives readers, listeners and viewers a way to seek out-of-court resolution of disputes with media outlets.
