Zelensky reports "important results" for Ukrainian forces near Lyman

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, following a report from Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi, that Ukrainian troops had achieved "important results" in the Lyman direction of Donetsk region as part of the "Vivaldi" operation. He also noted successes by an air assault troop grouping during another active defense operation.

Zelensky did not provide specific territorial figures, saying only that "the set objectives are being achieved."

Losses and frontline activity

According to Zelensky, over the past week Ukrainian units neutralized 10,660 Russian soldiers, killed and wounded, across all active combat sections. He said the most intense fighting continues in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka and Lyman directions. Ukrainian forces are also carrying out operations in the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

Zelensky specifically highlighted the servicemen of the 3rd Army Corps and the 68th Separate Air Assault Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush, part of the 8th Air Assault Corps. He added that together with the commander-in-chief he had determined further active actions for Ukrainian forces, without disclosing details.

Background

On September 15, the 3rd Army Corps reported clearing 75 square kilometers and liberating another 10 square kilometers as part of counteroffensive actions in northern Donetsk region. On September 20, it became known that the corps, as part of the "Vivaldi" offensive operation, had liberated the villages of Shandryholove and Derylove in Donetsk region and established full control over Drobysheve.
