Zelenskyy: Ukraine to share drone-defense know-how with neighbors, NATO or not

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country is ready to share its accumulated experience in countering drones with partners facing attacks from Russia, and that this readiness is not limited to NATO member states.

Zelenskyy was asked whether Ukraine would be willing to send troops to help defend NATO territory if it came under threat. In response, he pointed to a different kind of contribution Ukraine could offer — practical knowledge and expertise gained through years of defending against Russian drone attacks.

This expertise has taken on added relevance recently, as drones linked to Russia's aggression against Ukraine have increasingly reached the territories of Ukraine's neighboring countries. Zelenskyy said Ukraine knows how to stop such drones and is prepared to pass that knowledge on to others.

The sharing of this know-how would take place through so-called Drone Deal agreements — arrangements set up to enable cooperation on countering drones with various partners. Zelenskyy stressed that this cooperation would not be restricted to NATO alliance members alone, but would be available to any country facing similar threats from Russia.

The statement signals that Ukraine views the military and technological expertise it has built up in drone warfare during the war as a resource that can support broader regional security, not only its own territorial defense. It also reflects a situation in which the fallout from Russian drone attacks is no longer confined to Ukraine's borders but is affecting neighboring states as well, creating a need for wider international cooperation on air defense.
