Zelensky warns Russia of a 'harsh winter' if fighting continues
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the G7 summit said Russia will face a harsh winter if hostilities are not ended before the cold season.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia is in for a "harsh winter" if the fighting does not stop in the coming months. Speaking to reporters at the G7 summit, Zelensky stated that Ukraine had endured a terrible winter and that Russia would not be spared hardships either, according to RBC-Ukraine.
Zelensky added that Ukraine has no desire to go through another such winter. He called for negotiations to end the hostilities to begin before cold weather sets in. During the 2025/2026 winter season, many settlements in Ukraine were left without electricity, water, and heat due to Russian strikes. In Kyiv, many homes were left without central heating during severe frosts.
The president emphasized that Ukraine does not want to repeat last winter's experience and cautioned that Russia would also suffer if the conflict continues.
