Zelensky Calls on EU to Unblock €6 Billion from European Peace Facility for Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the European Council to unblock €6 billion from the European Peace Facility, stressing the funds should be used for proven air defense and long-range ammunition to protect lives.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, addressing the European Council meeting, called for the immediate unblocking of €6 billion from the European Peace Facility (EPF) designated for Ukraine's defense. He emphasized that the funds must be allocated to weapons systems that have already proven their effectiveness in the war, including air defense, long-range artillery shells, and other capabilities that save lives.
Zelensky warned that if the conflict continues into winter, Ukraine will require a comprehensive winter aid package: an energy component covering gas, diesel, and necessary equipment, as well as a missile package of at least 300 missiles for the winter months. He urged EU member states to start preparing now while simultaneously intensifying diplomatic efforts to achieve concrete decisions.
Earlier, the European Commission could not confirm reports that Hungary had unblocked €6.6 billion from the EPF for military support to Ukraine.
