Xiaomi announces second SkyNomad model — luxury SUV N70 with up to 1,461 km of range
Xiaomi has unveiled the SkyNomad N70 Nomad, a mid-size luxury SUV with a range-extender powertrain capable of covering up to 1,461 km in total.
Chinese technology giant Xiaomi, which has also established a presence in the automotive industry, has presented its second model under the SkyNomad sub-brand. The new N70 Nomad is a smaller alternative to the existing N90 and is built on the Kunlun platform.
The vehicle uses a range-extended electric setup. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 125 hp and acts solely as a generator, while the wheels are driven by two electric motors — a 210 kW (286 hp) unit at the rear and a 100 kW (136 hp) motor at the front. With a 76 kWh battery, the SUV can travel up to 505 km on electricity alone under China's CTLC cycle, while the combined range reaches 1,461 km. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has claimed this is more than any other hybrid can achieve.
The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 190 km/h. Compared with the larger N90, the new model is more compact at 4.96 metres in length and seats five passengers.
Inside, SkyNomad has kept comfort levels high. The cabin features adjustable and rotating seats, an entertainment system, a massage function and even a built-in refrigerator. Equipment includes a digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen and a head-up display. In terms of design, the N70 follows the N90's visual language, with boxy body lines and a modern interior that recall Range Rover styling.
In China, the SkyNomad N70 is already available for pre-order. It has a starting price of approximately €33,500 and will go on sale in September.
