Wu crushes Trump to reach Shenzhen Open final against Yuan
World champion Wu Yize beat Judd Trump 6-1 in the Shenzhen Open semi-finals and will face Yuan Sijun, who edged past Jimmy Robertson, in Sunday's all-Chinese final.

World champion Wu Yize delivered a commanding response to a slow start in his Shenzhen Open semi-final against Judd Trump, winning six straight frames after dropping the first to close out the match 6-1. The result avenged Wu's earlier loss to Trump at the Shanghai Masters semi-finals this year and will see the 22-year-old rise to second in the world rankings, overtaking Trump, once the final is played.
Trump, currently world number two and winner of August's Shanghai Masters, had arrived at the semi-final in strong form following a 5-0 quarter-final win over Mark Selby. He opened with a break of 77 to take the first frame, but a series of mistakes afterward allowed Wu to seize control. Wu made three breaks of 50 or more during an untidy match before sealing victory with a break of 110.
Wu will now meet 26-year-old Yuan Sijun in the final, after Yuan battled through a far tougher semi-final, defeating England's Jimmy Robertson 6-5. The lead swung back and forth throughout the match, and the deciding frame alone lasted 50 minutes and produced 177 points. Robertson snookered Yuan on the last red and clawed back 41 points from penalties, only to find himself snookered in turn, before Yuan cleared to the pink to book his spot in the final.
Yuan started the tournament ranked 33rd in the world and will climb to the edge of the top 16 regardless of Sunday's outcome, marking his first appearance in a ranking event final. Wu said he had seen Yuan in tears before the semi-final and hoped the final would be a great contest for fans, while still expressing his own ambition to win the title. The final takes place Sunday at the Bao'an Sports Centre in Shenzhen.
