Vollering seizes yellow jersey in women's Tour de France on eve of finish

Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering won stage 8 of the women's Tour de France and took the overall race lead a day before the finish, pulling away from rival Kasia Niewiadoma.

Dutch rider Demi Vollering has won the eighth stage of the women's Tour de France, held in Nice, and claimed the yellow jersey with the race entering its final day.

During the stage, Vollering managed to break away from her closest rival, Polish cyclist Kasia Niewiadoma, who had previously held the overall lead. The stage win reshuffles the standings just before the race concludes.

The same sports broadcast also covered several other results. High diver Gary Hunt secured a bronze medal, while swimmer Léon Marchand announced his withdrawal from the individual medley events.

In football, Paris Saint-Germain drew with Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup and also agreed a deal to sign forward Ferran Torres. Chelsea and Real Madrid both recorded wins in their pre-season friendly matches.
