Ukraine's massive drone attacks on Moscow last week have dealt a significant psychological blow to Russia, according to analyst Vjali in an interview with ERR. The strikes hit a key oil refinery supplying the Russian military, causing both practical and symbolic damage.

The attack on Moscow demonstrated Ukraine's ability to reach the Russian capital, not only disrupting infrastructure but also sending a clear message. Vjali noted that Ukrainian forces successfully overwhelmed Russian air defense by using swarms of drones, decoys, and electronic warfare systems. Videos showed chaos, including instances where Russian missiles missed their targets due to jamming.

In addition to the Moscow strikes, Ukraine carried out successful attacks in occupied Crimea and at a distance of 2,000 kilometers from the front line, signaling that no region in Russia is safe. In Crimea, Ukrainian forces targeted the ferry crossing, oil storage facilities, and S-400 radar systems, effectively cutting off the peninsula from supply routes. Vjali emphasized that this tactic severely complicates Russian logistics and could impact the southern front.

Regarding the frontline situation, the analyst said there have been no major changes – positional battles continue, mainly in the eastern direction near Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka. Russian forces retain offensive potential, but Ukrainian defenders face challenges in built-up areas. However, Ukraine is not ready to withdraw.

On NATO pledges, Vjali noted that aid to Ukraine continues despite the reduction of US troops in Europe. European countries have committed to replacing these units, and supplies have not been interrupted so far. Meanwhile, Russian threats of retaliation have not materialized, suggesting limited real capabilities.

Overall, Ukraine's drone strikes are changing the dynamics of the war, forcing Russia to reconsider its security guarantees even deep within its territory.
