Witkoff presents peace proposals to Zelensky and European officials in Oslo
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European representatives in Oslo on October 20 and presented proposals to end Russia's war in Ukraine.
In Oslo, the capital of Norway, on October 20, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy serving under President Donald Trump, met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and representatives of European countries. Witkoff set out his proposals for a peace settlement that would end Russia's war in Ukraine.
The meeting is part of renewed U.S. efforts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. The source, a report by the independent outlet Meduza, does not describe the content of the proposals or give details of the meeting's outcome.
Meduza's piece is devoted to why Kyiv is skeptical of the Trump administration's renewed peace negotiations with Russia and Ukraine. The reasons for that skepticism are not set out in the portion of the text available.
