Both the Premier League and Manchester City have stayed silent on the specific verdict. City's own statement stopped short of confirming the finding, instead stressing that the process remains ongoing and that an appeal is expected, as the club has consistently denied wrongdoing. Because the charges are being contested, the case now moves to a separate sanction hearing before the independent panel — one that could still be months away, with the outcome potentially withheld until any appeal is resolved.
Possible outcomes
Given the scale of the case — seven separate Premier League charges relating to profit and sustainability rules, plus five more tied to Uefa competitions — some form of points deduction appears likely. For comparison, Everton and Nottingham Forest were docked six and four points respectively for comparatively minor breaches. Unlike Chelsea, who admitted guilt earlier this year and negotiated a settlement with the league, City have shown no indication of pursuing that route.
There is a real possibility no sanction will be applied before the current season ends, raising questions about competitive integrity — particularly if City go on to win the title, or if another club is relegated despite having enough points to have survived had City's punishment been applied in time.

Several Premier League clubs are already seeking legal advice on potential compensation claims against Manchester City, including for lost Champions League qualification and associated revenue. A football finance expert noted such claims could cover prize money, sponsorship bonuses and player bonuses, potentially amounting to millions of pounds depending on the year in question.
