VEF Rīga podcast: coach discusses Latvia's first youth gold medal
In a new Sportacentrs podcast episode, VEF Rīga talks with coach Edijs Šlesers, the first in Latvia to win gold at a youth championship, about the new generation of players and the road to the NBA.
The Sportacentrs portal's "Klausītava" listening section has published a new episode of the VEF Rīga podcast featuring coach Edijs Šlesers.
Šlesers is described as the first coach to have won a gold medal for Latvia at youth basketball championships. This achievement serves as the starting point for a conversation about what the current generation of young Latvian basketball players looks like.
The new generation and NBA hopes
One of the central questions raised in the conversation is whether such success at youth level — winning a championship gold medal — can realistically help a coach or his players advance further in their careers, potentially even reaching the NBA. The episode is available to listen to on the Sportacentrs website.
The show is part of the VEF Rīga club's podcast series, which covers current topics related to Latvian basketball, coaching work and player development.
