Variņi village marks Michaelmas with a shared community table

On Saturday, September 26, the village of Variņi held a Michaelmas (Miķeļdiena) community gathering, organized by the local residents themselves. The event brought villagers together around a shared table, giving neighbors and friends a chance to spend time together and celebrate as a community.

Michaelmas is traditionally observed in autumn in Latvia and is associated with the end of the harvest season and the turning of the seasons, prompting people to gather and share in the results of their work. In Variņi, this tradition continues to be upheld, with the community table serving as a gathering point for residents.
