Valters Kreiss Fails to Reach Main Competition at European Athletics Championships

Latvian pole vaulter Valters Kreiss ended his participation in the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Friday. In the qualification round of the pole vault, he failed to meet the standard required to advance to the main competition. As a result, he did not join the athletes who will continue to compete for medals.

The European Championships are being held in Birmingham this year. Kreiss was entered in the pole vault event, but his performance came to an end already in the qualifying stage. In pole vault, as in many other athletics disciplines, athletes must first clear the qualification hurdle to reach the final. This time, the Latvian could not do so.

Friday's competition was his chance to earn a place in the main event, but his result proved insufficient. Kreiss did not advance among the top competitors, so he will no longer appear in the remainder of the championship programme. His participation in the tournament ended in the qualification round.

Kreiss thus failed to achieve his goal of advancing to the main competition. His start at the European Championships in Birmingham is now over. Attention will turn to the other athletes who continue to compete at the championship.
