On June 11, a solemn ceremony marked the end of national defense service for 469 soldiers at the Ādaži military base in Latvia. This batch began their service late last year, undergoing basic military training, exercises, and discipline-building activities.

Nearly 120 of these soldiers have decided to pursue a professional military career, joining the National Armed Forces for further specialized training. The rest will return to civilian life but remain affiliated with the National Guard or reserve forces.

The national defense service, reintroduced in 2023, aims to strengthen Latvia's defense capabilities and foster public understanding of military service. The graduation ceremony was attended by families and senior military officials.
