Valka Seniors’ Club “Zelta Rudens” Gains Association Status and Plans to Revive Activities
The Valka seniors’ club “Zelta Rudens” has been registered as an association and wants to resume active work after a quieter period. New leader Maija Puķīte plans to recruit members, organise events and write funding projects.

The seniors’ club “Zelta Rudens” (“Golden Autumn”) in Valka, northern Latvia, has obtained official association status and is preparing to revive its activities. The association was registered on 5 August this year with the Register of Enterprises, the state body that registers associations and companies. The details come from its new leader, Maija Puķīte, and Mārīte Magone, a socially active senior. They met a reporter in October, which is marked as seniors’ month.
Why activity had faded
For some time, the club’s activities had been winding down. The club, which its members affectionately call a “klubiņš” (little club), lacked an active leader. Legal formalities also had to be settled before it could become an association.
What the goals are
All these matters were handled so that “Zelta Rudens” could become active again. The plans include inviting new members to join, organising events and interest groups, and writing projects to attract funding.
Puķīte said she is pleased that, together with Magone, she managed to secure association status. In her view, this opens up new opportunities for the organisation.
