Over 100 Russian Troops Infiltrate Kostyantynivka, Ukrainian Commanders Warn of Possible Loss by Summer’s End
At least a hundred Russian soldiers have infiltrated the city of Kostyantynivka in Donetsk region, with Ukrainian forces reporting enemy presence in the city center. Commanders say the situation is worsening and the city could be lost by the end of summer.

According to a report by hromadske, more than a hundred Russian troops have infiltrated Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region. Ukrainian defense forces have detected the enemy in the city center. Three commanders at the company and battalion level told the outlet that the number of infiltrators exceeds one hundred, with one officer estimating the true figure could be closer to 250, as accurately counting enemy groups is difficult.
The situation is described as repeating the scenario of Pokrovsk, where the enemy penetrates the city and attempts to split it into separate sectors, preventing organized defense and leaving Ukrainian infantry at risk of encirclement. One commander stated, "The enemy has wedged into the city center. This is no longer infiltration — it is enemy resistance." He added that Ukrainian forces are currently eliminating fewer Russians than are entering the city.
Another commander noted that given the pace of developments, problems will only increase over time. "It is entirely realistic to lose Kostyantynivka by the end of summer. The enemy is pressing very hard," he said.
The report highlights the growing threat to the strategically important city, which has been a focal point of Russian advances in the Donetsk region.
