Public transport lane to be added at Ulmaņa gatve and Lielirbes iela junction in Riga
Riga city authorities plan to create a dedicated public transport lane at the junction of Kārļa Ulmaņa gatve and Lielirbes iela to help buses avoid traffic jams. The changes are to be completed by August 30.

The Riga municipality has announced plans to install a separate public transport lane at the intersection of Kārļa Ulmaņa gatve and Lielirbes iela. The new lane is intended for traffic heading from Kārļa Ulmaņa gatve onto Lielirbes iela.
Aim: fewer delays
The lane will allow public transport vehicles to bypass possible traffic congestion on Kārļa Ulmaņa gatve before turning onto Lielirbes iela, improving the reliability of bus and other public transport schedules along this stretch. The traffic reorganization is being carried out at the request of the public transport company Rīgas satiksme.
Timeline
The traffic changes are scheduled to be completed by August 30 this year. To minimize disruption to daily traffic flow, work will mainly take place at night. Officials noted that the construction schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and other circumstances related to the work.
