Ukraine strikes Voronezh factory supplying electronics for Russian cruise missiles
On June 23, Ukrainian forces launched a missile strike on Voronezh, hitting the Sborka semiconductor plant that manufactures electronics for Russian cruise missiles.
Strike on Voronezh
On the afternoon of June 23, Ukraine's armed forces launched a missile strike on the city of Voronezh. Alexander Gusev, governor of the Voronezh region, said Russian air-defense forces had shot down "several high-speed aerial targets" over the city. The attack damaged "the production facilities of one of Voronezh's enterprises," the facades of several apartment buildings, and vehicles, Gusev said.
Initially, the governor reported three people wounded; he later said five people had been killed. Open-source intelligence analysts identified the target as the main building of the Sborka semiconductor device plant. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the attack on the plant.
Factory's role
According to Ukrainian and Western officials, the facility manufactures electronics for Iskander missiles, Kh-101 cruise missiles, and Pantsir-S1 air-defense missile systems. Eyewitness photos and videos showed a fire at Sborka, with a column of black smoke visible over the city.
