Ukrainian drones hit an oil products transshipment terminal in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don overnight on Saturday, 10 October, according to the Ukrainian portal “Militarnij”. Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, confirmed a drone attack on the region and a fire in the city. The strike comes as Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine continues, and it affects facilities tied to Russian exports and the supply of its troops.
What was damaged
The drones struck the “NZNP oil terminal”, an oil products transshipment facility of the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery, previously known as “Yug Rusi”. The terminal is located in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don. According to the source, it is used to transship oil products for export, to supply the Russian army with fuel and to earn foreign currency revenue. Its design capacity is about 2.5 million tonnes a year.
The previous strike on this terminal took place on 9 July 2026.
Bridge and port
The governor also reported damage to a railway bridge, as a result of which train traffic was halted in both directions. The damaged bridge is one of the key supply routes for Russia's troop grouping. Two ships in the port of Azov were also damaged.
Background
Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has continued since 24 February 2022. The war launched by Russia against Ukraine has lasted since 2014, when Russia occupied Ukraine's Crimean peninsula and began hostilities in Donbas.
