Ukrainian Drone Strikes Hit Russian Oil Refineries and Wildberries Warehouse

Ukraine said Thursday that its drones targeted two major oil refineries in Russia, one in the Yaroslavl region and one in Bashkortostan. President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on X that the military struck the Slavneft-Yanos refinery in Yaroslavl and the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Ufa, calling the operation “long-range sanctions.”

Zelensky also said Ukrainian forces had successful operations in the Black Sea, hitting two military patrol boats and shadow-fleet vessels. Telegram channels shared eyewitness video showing smoke rising over Slavneft-Yanos after explosions.

Slavneft-Yanos is a joint venture between Rosneft and Gazprom Neft and is among Russia’s five largest refineries, with annual capacity around 15 million metric tons. Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said air defense repelled the largest-ever drone attack on the region, intercepting 92 drones, and reported damage to homes, apartment buildings and vehicles without giving casualty figures. Ukraine’s military claims it struck the plant twice in July.

Bashkortostan authorities have not commented on the reported attack on Bashneft-Novoil, which processes 7.4 million metric tons of crude per year. It would be at least the third reported attack on Bashneft refineries in Ufa in the past week.

In the Tver region, authorities reported “slight damage” to a Wildberries warehouse after overnight attacks. Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, did not immediately comment. Ukraine has hit nearly two dozen Wildberries logistics centers since mid-July, accusing the company of supplying drone parts and other equipment to the Russian military.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 605 Ukrainian drones across Russia and occupied Crimea from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.
