Ukrainian drones damage two grain terminals at Russia's largest port, Novorossiysk

Ukrainian drones struck the port of Novorossiysk overnight into August 12, damaging infrastructure at two of its three grain terminals, according to reporting by Russian business daily Vedomosti and the Reuters news agency.

One of the affected sites, the Novorossiysk Grain Terminal, suspended operations after equipment used to transfer agricultural cargo was damaged, sources told Vedomosti. The second damaged facility belongs to the Novorossiysk Bread Products Plant and is part of United Grain Company. The company's press service said further details on repair timelines would follow. Three separate sources told Reuters that this terminal had also halted operations.

No injuries were reported at either terminal. A third grain terminal at the port, known as KSK and considered one of Russia's largest deep-water grain terminals, was not confirmed as damaged — its press service declined to comment.

Fatal strike, city water cut off

The drone strikes were part of a broader overnight attack on Russia's Krasnodar Krai. In Novorossiysk itself, the assault killed an eight-year-old child and left at least 12 people hospitalized. Local monitoring channels reported a fire at the port. Authorities cut off the city's water supply after main pipelines were damaged, and a state of emergency was declared.

Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter, and the majority of its grain shipments move through Black Sea ports, including Novorossiysk.
