Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Defends Svyrydenko Leading Delegation to Gdansk Conference
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry stated that it is justified for Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to lead the Ukrainian delegation to the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk, aiming to keep the focus on economic issues and avoid politicization.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi stated during a telethon that the decision for Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to lead the Ukrainian delegation to the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk is fully justified. He explained that the move aims to keep the conference focused on pragmatic economic issues and avoid unnecessary politicization or scandals. Tykhyi expressed hope for a successful conference, noting that 58 government delegations will attend. He also highlighted that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will be present, making it logical for Ukraine to send a high-level government delegation. These remarks follow reports that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not attend the conference. The decision comes after a controversy surrounding the revocation of Poland's highest state award from Karol Nawrocki, which occurred in response to a Ukrainian unit being named after the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Earlier, the European Pravda editorial had advised Zelenskyy to attend the conference despite the crisis to maintain friendly relations with the Polish government. Tykhyi described the delegation choice as a very correct and balanced decision.
