Ukraine carried out a strike on industrial infrastructure in Russia's Samara region on Saturday, according to local authorities. Ivan Noskov, head of the regional capital Samara, said air defense systems had repelled what he described as a "massive attack," though the city's industrial infrastructure still sustained localized damage. He did not disclose which specific facility was affected.
Footage released by Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point, which produces the Flamingo missile, showed two missiles being launched shortly before the strike.
Possible Targets
The Telegram channel ASTRA published an analysis suggesting the targeted facility may have been the Aviakor aircraft manufacturing plant or the Progress Rocket and Space Center. The Moscow Times said it has not been able to independently verify this claim.
This is not the first time Ukraine has targeted the region: it previously struck the Syzran oil refinery on the Volga River in southwestern Samara region. The strikes form part of Ukraine's broader campaign against Russian energy infrastructure, aimed at pressuring Moscow to end the war, which has now lasted more than four years.
