Ukraine Ramps Up Domestic Missile Production, Aims for Strikes up to 2,000 km

Ukraine's domestically produced Flamingo missile successfully struck a Russian military plant in Cheboksary, marking the start of a broader use of Ukrainian-made missiles, as the country's military command approves a concept to develop missile forces capable of hitting targets up to 2,000 kilometers by 2030.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian-made missile "Flamingo" successfully struck a Russian military plant in Cheboksary, about 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The attack is seen as the beginning of a wider deployment of domestically produced missiles.

Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has approved a concept for the development of the country's missile forces and artillery through 2030. The document outlines several strategic goals, including starting serial production of domestic missiles. Additionally, the concept envisions Ukraine's ability to strike targets up to 2,000 kilometers away using missiles and drones.

This would mean Ukraine could threaten Russian military and industrial facilities deep inside its territory, expanding the geography of the war. Currently, Ukraine already uses long-range drones, but a missile program would enable even more powerful and precise strikes.

Analysts note that this development could significantly impact the course of the war, as Russia would be forced to relocate its military plants and warehouses further from the front line. However, it remains unclear how quickly Ukraine can implement these ambitious plans.
