Ukraine is set to make a request for additional military financing at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, also known as the Ramstein group, which brings together over 50 nations. The request, to be made on Thursday, is driven by what officials describe as a six-to-nine-month window of opportunity on the battlefield that requires urgent funding.
Russian advances on the battlefield have slowed this year and effectively stopped last month. Ukrainian medium-range drone strikes have significantly hampered Russian military supply and logistics along the front line. Meanwhile, long-range drone attacks are damaging Russia's energy sector.
According to sources, each ally will be asked to contribute between two and six billion dollars to reach a total target of $20 billion, either in the form of direct aid or loans.
