Two rounds have been played in Poland's futsal Ekstraklasa, and Leszno, with Latvian player Renards Udris, won both by wide margins: 8:0 at home against Katowice and 10:0 away against Kazimierza Wielka, which features Sergejs Motils.

In the first match Udris scored his fourth goal of the season. In the second he netted "3+1", just as in the opening round. He now has seven goals, which puts him ninth in the league. Motils has three.

Latvian clubs in the table

Artemijs Pilipcuks scored his second goal of the season and made it 2:0 near the end of the first half, but Bialystok's Jagiellonia, which he and Andzejs Mickevics represent, failed to hold the lead at home and drew 2:2 with Pniewy Red Dragons. Pilipcuks also received a yellow card. Earlier, Jagiellonia lost 1:3 to Poznan's Lech, a duel between former RFS head coaches Vasko Vujovic and Orlando Duarte.

Among clubs with Latvian players, only Bochnia, with reserve goalkeeper Rainers Murnieks, is in the top eight: 15 points from eight matches put it sixth. Leszno has nine points and is tenth, Viktors Kulepovs's We-Met Futsal is 12th with six, and Jagiellonia and Kazimierza Wielka, both on four points, are 14th and 15th in the 16-team league.

Kozlovskis in Czechia

Artjoms Kozlovskis joined Bochnia in the offseason, but he began the season with France's runners-up Paris Sporting and at the end of September moved to Czechia's Rapid Usti nad Labem. His debut ended in a 1:5 loss to Plzen's Interobal. In Hradec he scored twice to make it 2:1 and 3:1, but the match finished 4:4. Latvia's national team begins its World Cup qualifying main round in Czechia on Tuesday.

Other leagues

In Belgium, Brussels' Anderlecht has opened the season with six wins. Edgars Tarakanovs scored his first goal of the season a week ago, and in a 12:2 win he was unsuccessful on both goals conceded. At the end of October, Anderlecht will host Latvian runners-up Beitar in the Champions League.

In Italy's top division, Andrejs Baklanovs's Giovinazzo earned its first win, 3:2 away at Pomezia. In Greece, goalkeeper Igors Labuts made his Panathinaikos debut, but the club lost 0:7 to Doukas and has started the season with three defeats.
