US President Donald Trump has said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize because he helped end eight wars. This year's winner is due to be announced on Friday.
US President Donald Trump has told reporters that he believes he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. He points to his efforts to resolve international conflicts as the basis for that view.
According to Trump, he helped settle eight wars, and he argued that this record justifies giving him the award.
The Norwegian committee's decision
Trump acknowledged that he does not know whether the Norwegian Nobel Committee will pick him. He added, however, that if the prize is not awarded to him, it would discredit the committee itself.
When the winner will be named
The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize is scheduled to be announced on Friday.
The remarks came shortly before the announcement. The source does not specify which conflicts the president has in mind, so this report does not name any particular wars.
