Trump threatens prison for officials behind missile shortage leak

US President Donald Trump has warned that American officials who leaked data to the press about an alleged shortage of missiles in the US armed forces will face imprisonment. The warning came in a post on Trump's Truth Social platform, as cited by RBK-Ukraine.

Trump was responding to a New York Times article claiming that the president was displeased with Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and had demanded explanations over a sharp reduction in US missile stockpiles during the war in the Middle East.

The US president categorically denied the information, stating that the United States has an "enormous quantity" of munitions and that weapons production and deliveries are carried out in line with the army's needs.

He further threatened sources of such leaks with long prison terms. According to Trump, the White House will take a very tough stance on the dissemination of such information.

In his post, Trump asserted that the US has enormous reserves of ammunition, especially certain types, and that large volumes of weapons are produced and delivered as needed. He added that defense companies are building the largest number of factories and production facilities in the country's history, and that those involved in the "treacherous" leaks are being sought, with long prison sentences intended for them.
